Plain-English terms for Free, Solo, and Crew — no subscription, no surprises.
Last updated: March 2026 · Applies to orionapp.dev
Orion has three tiers: Free, Solo, and Crew. Free is genuinely free forever for personal use with a 3-collection limit. Solo and Crew are one-time purchases that unlock unlimited collections. You bring your own API keys — we never touch your data or your API usage. Don’t resell the software or share your license key. That’s the gist of it.
This agreement is between you and Rebellion Software LLC (“we”, “us”, “Orion”) and covers your use of the Orion desktop application and any related downloads from orionapp.dev. By downloading or using Orion, you agree to these terms.
When you buy Orion Solo or Crew, you own that license permanently. There are no subscription fees, no renewals, and no expiration.
Major new versions (e.g. v1 to v2) may be paid upgrades in the future. If and when that happens, existing license holders will receive a meaningful discount. We’ll give you clear advance notice — no surprises.
Orion runs entirely on your machine. Your prompts, collections, and results stay local — we have no server that receives or stores them.
You connect Orion to model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) using your own API keys. We never see those keys, never proxy your requests, and never receive any data from your model interactions. Your API usage and any associated costs are entirely between you and your providers.
If you or your employer is making money from work that involves using Orion, you need a paid license. That includes:
The Free tier is for personal experimentation, learning, and non-commercial side projects. If you’re genuinely unsure, just reach out and ask — we’d rather clarify than have you worry about it.
If something is seriously broken and we can’t fix it, we’ll refund you. We don’t offer refunds simply for changing your mind after purchase, but we’re reasonable people — if you have a legitimate issue, contact us and we’ll work it out.
We make no guarantees about uptime, availability, or specific feature timelines. We’ll do our best to keep Orion working well and improving over time.
Orion is provided as-is. We’re not liable for any damages, data loss, or costs arising from your use of the software — including any API costs you incur with third-party model providers. Back up your collections. Export often.
We may update this license from time to time. If something meaningful changes, we’ll note it clearly at the top with an updated date. Continuing to use Orion after a change means you accept the updated terms.

This license is written in plain English on purpose. If you’re a lawyer and something here conflicts with standard enforceability requirements in your jurisdiction, the intent of each clause governs.
